Become a Notary Public
First-Time Applicants & Commission Renewals
Please read carefully!
In order to become a Notary Public in the state of Kentucky, you must first apply with the Secretary of State. You can access the Notary Portal through their website at www.sos.ky.gov. As of January 1, 2020, it is now required of a notary applicant to obtain an insurance bond. This process will be further explained on the Secretary of State’s website.
AFTER you have completed the application process with the Secretary of State, a postcard or email will be sent instructing you to contact the County Clerk’s office to be sworn in. Through the link below, you can request an appointment to finalize the process. Notary appointments are scheduled daily. You will need to bring a valid driver’s license, your original completed notary bond, and a fee of $19 with you on the day of your appointment. (We can accept cash, check, or debit/credit card. Please be advised that a small fee will apply to the use of a debit/credit card.)
We look forward to serving you!
